I currently serve as an associate research fellow at the Research Center for Curriculum and Instruction of the National Academy for Educational Research. My fields of interest are narrative inquiry, issue education, and teacher education. In graduate school, my research focus was on curriculum and teaching, and I used narrative inquiry in my dissertation to provide a complete understanding of the problems faced by non-tenured teachers and discuss the issues related to preservice teachers in Taiwan after the shift in teacher education policy. In my position at the National Academy for Educational Research, I have participated in revising the 12-year basic education curriculum guidelines. Particularly, my involvement with issue education has considerably benefited my ability to connect theory to practice and school to society. It is hoped that with the aforementioned experience, I can apply my learning and knowledge of the functions and effects of education, particularly in terms of caring, respect, and service, to this position.
