依據十二年國民基本教育課程綱要，第五學習階段的字詞學習重點在六書的原則以及文言文的字詞；同時，在閱讀及寫作學習表現與學習內容上，均要認識與學習不同文本的表述方式特徵。本研究透過蒐集分析十二年國教課綱與九年一貫課綱的第五學習階段國語文教科書的漢字和語詞，進行跨版本及跨課綱落差比較並分析其學習銜接問題，並進而提出字詞在不同文體（古典文選、白話文選）及不同表述方式（敘述、描寫、抒情、說明、議論）的分布及應用。同時，藉由分析比較高中國語文教科書與報章媒體的字詞差異，以了解第五學習階段國語文教科書與實際生活運用的落差情形。
